Softball Game Preview: Murphy Bulldogs vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Murphy will face off against Hayesville. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Murphy's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Hayesville has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Murphy gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Hayesville.

Paisley Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Emma Laney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hayesville's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Murphy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
