Softball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Davis Darts

The Layton Lancers will challenge the Davis Darts at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Layton has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Davis will arrive with 11 straight victories.

Layton fell victim to Bountiful and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the RedHawks.

Davis came out on top against Fremont on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Darts walked away with a 7-3 win over the Silverwolves.

Serena Roth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Roth was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Norah Sunderland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jewel Korth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Davis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 11 consecutive games.

Davis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Layton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
