Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is South Point's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

South Point had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt North Gaston on Thursday. The Red Raiders blew past the Wildcats 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Madison Bridges was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ella Gibson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

South Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Point is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Coming up, South Point will take on West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Raiders are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for North Gaston, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crest at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th.
