Preview: Faith Lutheran Crusaders vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs
Faith Lutheran is 8-2 against Shadow Ridge since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Faith Lutheran Crusaders on the road again and play against the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Faith Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
Last Friday, Faith Lutheran faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Faith Lutheran had to suffer through a rough 88-50 loss at the hands of Centennial. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Faith Lutheran has suffered against Centennial since December 13, 2019.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tamiah Harrison, who scored 18 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raina Forgue, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Faith Lutheran struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Shadow Ridge posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past Liberty 46-44.
Shadow Ridge relied on the efforts of Jasmyne Sanders, who scored 13 points, and Zh'mya Martin, who scored 18 points. Martin is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played.
Faith Lutheran now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Shadow Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Everything came up roses for Faith Lutheran against Shadow Ridge in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 80-48 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Shadow Ridge's Kelly Megown, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
