Preview: Hortonville Polar Bears vs. Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts
The Hortonville Polar Bears will be home for the holidays to greet the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hortonville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Kaukauna likes a good challenge.
Hortonville pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-61 bruising from Fond du Lac. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hortonville has scored all season.
Hortonville's loss came about despite a quality game from Riley Mueller, who scored 25 points. The contest was Mueller's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Joling, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Kaukauna had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 74-65 victory over Neenah. Given Kaukauna's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Neenah is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hortonville's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Kaukauna, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Hortonville came up short against Kaukauna in their previous matchup back in January, falling 83-78. Will Hortonville have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
