Soccer Game Preview: Purvis vs. Sumrall

Purvis hasn't had much luck against Sumrall recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Purvis Tornadoes will look to defend their home pitch against the Sumrall Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Purvis comes in on three and Sumrall on 11.

Back in December of 2024, Purvis beat Forrest County Agricultural 3-1.

Meanwhile, Sumrall faced Florence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Sumrall blew past Florence 6-3. Considering the Bobcats have won 11 matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Florence with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Addie Siders (3), Vera Paladichuk, Ashton Stringfellow, and Presley Kirkland.

Sumrall's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six games. As for Purvis, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
