Basketball Preview: Wisdom Generals vs. Madison Marlins
Wisdom is 0-10 against the Marlins since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wisdom Generals will look to defend their home court against the Madison Marlins at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wisdom has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while the Marlins will arrive with 12 straight victories.
Last Monday, Wisdom suffered a rough 64-42 defeat at the hands of the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Madison stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northside 90-51 at home. Given Madison's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Panthers are ranked 1226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madison got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Avalos out in front who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Avalos has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Devean Newton was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six steals.
Wisdom has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Madison, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7.
Wisdom was taken down by the Marlins 79-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Will Wisdom have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
