Baseball Recap: The Colony Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

The Colony's last matchup with Highland Park could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Colony lost 9-2 to Highland Park. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Trey Rangel was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Riley Stewart and Josiah Rojas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stewart went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Rojas went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

The Colony's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-7. As for Highland Park, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-8.

Coming up, The Colony will be playing at home against Creekview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Creekview's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so The Colony's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Allen at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Allen will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Highland Park surely won't give up without a fight.
