The Southeastern Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Oneonta Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeastern's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Oneonta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Southeastern will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Douglas, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Southeastern walked away with a 6-2 victory over Douglas on Monday.
Emellie Hamilton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Moon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oneonta). They put the hurt on Pennington with a sharp 18-8 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.
Millie Simmons was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Desz Fredrick, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Oneonta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
The victory got Oneonta back to even at 3-3. As for Southeastern, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Southeastern came up short against Oneonta in their previous matchup last Monday, falling 4-0. Can Southeastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
