Football Recap: Alonso Skates Past Newsome with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Alonso rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 28-0 victory over the Newsome Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won 12 matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

Gabby Werr continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 207 yards and three touchdowns. She is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Alonso didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mia Garcia, Makenna Aldaco, and Maja Rowe picked up one apiece. Garcia got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Alonso, bringing their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for Newsome, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Looking ahead, Alonso will be playing at home against Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Ravens 5.7, the Bulls 11.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Newsome does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
