Baseball Game Preview: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Holy Family Tigers

The Colorado Academy Mustangs will face off against the Holy Family Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Colorado Academy comes in on three and Holy Family on nine.

On Thursday, Colorado Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Denver Christian. They came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 7-2.

Jordan Reiter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Henderson Ray was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Holy Family came out on top against Peak to Peak on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Tigers took their match against the Pumas 8-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.

Holy Family also got a great performance from Austin Mireiter as he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Mireiter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Seifarth, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Nick Leopardi, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Holy Family pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Colorado Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colorado Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
