Basketball Recap: Shepherd Comes Up Short

Shepherd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 48-39 to the Lumberton Raiders. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Shepherd still got an impressive performance from Brayden White, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. White is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 23 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Chase Greenwood, who posted six points.

Shepherd's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lumberton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Shepherd didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-26 win against The Ehrhart School on the 5th. As for Lumberton, they will challenge Evadale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
