Softball Recap: Bedford Kicking Mules vs. Monroe Trojans
Bedford was the 10-9 winner over Monroe when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bedford Kicking Mules fell just short of the Monroe Trojans by a score of 4-3 on Monday. Bedford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Monroe's part, Avery Collett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Collett has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Aly Lewis was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Aulph, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Bedford now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Monroe, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bedford is on the road again on Wednesday to play Dundee at 4:00 p.m. As for Monroe, they will face off against Jackson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
