Basketball Recap: Jamar Underwood's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverdale over Highlands Christian

Riverdale's tournament run continued when they took on Highlands Christian on Thursday. The Riverdale Raiders fell just short of the Highlands Christian Knights by a score of 60-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (56), the Raiders still had to take the loss.

Riverdale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jamar Underwood, who posted 20 points. Underwood has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachii Russ, who put up 16 points.

Angel Scomparin was his usual excellent self, putting up 30 points for Highlands Christian. That makes it three consecutive games in which Scomparin has scored at least a third of Highlands Christian's points. Aydin Crawford was another key player, posting 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Riverdale and nudges their season record down to 1-10. As for Highlands Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Riverdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-60 win against Stone Ridge Christian on the 3rd. As for Highlands Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-57 loss against Aubrey Rogers on the 3rd.
