Basketball Recap: Monticello Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Monticello had won three straight road games and Jackson Soroko did his part to make it four on Saturday. The Monticello Magic blew past the Willmar Cardinals 93-68 thanks in part to Soroko, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. What's more, he also racked up five steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Trevon Singer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. He has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times he's played.

Monticello has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points per game. As for Willmar, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will host Big Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Willmar, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rocori at 6:00 p.m.
