Softball Recap: North Gaston Takes a Loss

North Gaston scored first but ultimately less than Freedom in their game on Wednesday. They came up short against the Freedom Patriots, falling 22-6. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 6-0 in the first period.

Skylar Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydance Hampton, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

This is the second loss in a row for North Gaston and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as North Gaston Wildcats take on Forestview Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Freedom, they will challenge South Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
