Preview: Tuscarora Huskies vs. Spotswood Trailblazers
The Tuscarora Huskies will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Spotswood Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Tuscarora was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-41 to Briar Woods. While losing is never fun, Tuscarora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Briar Woods is ranked 17th).
Meanwhile, Spotswood came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on East Rockingham with a sharp 57-36 win.
Tuscarora's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for Spotswood, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Tuscarora ended up a good deal behind Spotswood in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 59-42. Can Tuscarora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
