Baseball Recap: Pikeville Drops Season-High Score on Martin County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pikeville). They blew past the Martin County Cardinals 18-1 on Monday. The Panthers have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Bash Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jackson Hall was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Ryan wasn't the only one making solid contact: Pikeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martin County only managed one hit.

Pikeville's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Martin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pikeville will square off against Shelby Valley at 6:00 p.m. on the 15th. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Martin County, they will take on East Carter at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
