Basketball Game Preview: Wilkinson County Wildcats vs. Natchez Bulldogs

Wilkinson County hasn't had much luck against Natchez recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m.

Wilkinson County is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were outmatched by Jefferson County and fell 65-30. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.

Jayden ?Duk? Dunbar put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Natchez won against Port Gibson on Tuesday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Natchez walked away with a 58-49 victory over Franklin County. The win was nothing new for Natchez as they're now sitting on three straight.

Wilkinson County better keep an eye on Daylan Haywood. He was instrumental in Natchez's win, putting up 31 points and four steals. Haywood's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyrin Johnson, who put up six points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Natchez has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Wilkinson County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Wilkinson County was taken down by Natchez 69-11 in their previous meeting back in November. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilkinson County was down 41-7.
