Baseball Recap: Pine Island Falls to La Crescent in First Game of Season

Pine Island had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the La Crescent Lancers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost three in a row.

Pine Island saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Applen, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Coming up, Pine Island will welcome Dover-Eyota at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Crescent, they will face off against Caledonia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
