Baseball Recap: Maria Carrillo Pumas vs. Ukiah Wildcats
Maria Carrillo had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it four. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ukiah Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-1 defeat on Wednesday.
Maria Carrillo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Stark, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Joseph Edwards-Phillips also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As for Ukiah, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Ukiah's side, George Gibbs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
