Baseball Recap: Marina Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Marina had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Marina got a great performance from TATE MORRIS as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave MORRIS a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on LEO GOODWIN, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. MATTHEW DEAN was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Marina has already played their next contest, a 6-2 victory against Capistrano Valley on the 21st. As for Long Beach Poly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Wiseburn- Da Vinci on the 21st.
