Basketball Recap: Morgan Park Finds Home Court Redemption Against Westinghouse

There's no place like home for Morgan Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 74-66 victory over the Westinghouse Warriors on Wednesday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Mustangs were down 43-29 in the second quarter.

Westinghouse's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amariyae Ervin, who posted 21 points and six rebounds. Those 21 points gave Ervin a new career-high. Jamilah Jackson was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Morgan Park pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Westinghouse, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Morgan Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-33 defeat against Taft on the 13th. As for Westinghouse, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-32 loss against Kenwood on the 13th.
