Softball Game Recap: Jena Giants vs. Doyle Tigers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jena can now relate to. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Doyle Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on Sunday.

Kiette Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 32 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaylee Hardie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Bailey Durham was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for Jena and nudges their season record down to 29-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Doyle, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-7.

As of now, neither Jena nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
