Softball Game Preview: Tuckerman Bulldogs vs. Cross County Thunderbirds

The Tuckerman Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Cross County Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuckerman is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Cross County's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Tuckerman hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Mammoth Spring on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Zaylie Poe was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was McKinzy Hutchison, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Tuckerman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Cross County's offense. They lost 17-0 to Westside on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Thunderbirds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Tuckerman pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cross County, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.
