Softball Recap: ITW David Speer Academy Has No Trouble Against Elgin

ITW David Speer Academy had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 13-6 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Elgin Maroons with a sharp 19-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Pride, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Miabella Collazo was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaiyah Costoso, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Elgin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

On Elgin's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ainesly Downing, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, ITW David Speer Academy will venture away from home to square off against Leyden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elgin, they will host West Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
