Baseball Game Preview: Bogue Chitto Bobcats vs. West Lincoln Bears

For the second straight game, Bogue Chitto will face off against West Lincoln. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Bogue Chitto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Bogue Chitto was able to grind out a solid win over West Lincoln, taking the game 7-3.

Tripp McCaffrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, Tucker Kyzar and Noah Magee did most of the damage at the plate: Kyzar scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Magee scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Kyzar is becoming a predictor of Bogue Chitto's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Hayden Avants, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Bogue Chitto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for West Lincoln, they moved to 12-5 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
