League recap: Malibu tops Villanova Prep to extend winning streak

Malibu extended the longest winning streak in Frontier this week by beating Villanova Prep, 55-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Malibu made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,282 from 10,544. The improvement came about via a 55-0 victory over the Wildcats last week.

Grace Brethren's dynamic duo of Matthew Woodard and Kyle Lundy proved tough for Mission Prep to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Woodard threw for 109 yards and one touchdown and Lundy had 106 yards receiving. Thomas Meyers helped Grace Brethren's passing attack out by catching one ball for three yards.

Timi Obatusin was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 81 yards as Villanova Prep lost to the Royals. Teammate Johnny Contreras added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.

Sam Roberts provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Santa Clara fell to Fillmore. He completed 13 passes for 174 yards and also ran for 57 yards. Roberts' favorite target this week was Vincent Lopez, who caught four passes for 88 yards.

Ray humphrey's team's Chase Gardella and Brennan Cassone have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gardella has thrown for 1605 yards this season, while Cassone has 57 catches for 1030 yards. Collin Farrar from the Flashes leads the league in rushing with 780 yards.

A big matchup in Frontier this week will be when Tyler Wiggins' team takes on Fillmore. The Wildcats are in fifth place, while Matt Dollar's team is in first place.
