Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Celeste Blue Devils
Wolfe City is 10-0 against Celeste since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wolfe City Wolves will look to defend their home court against the Celeste Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Wolfe City strolled past Tom Bean with points to spare, taking the game 49-32.
Meanwhile, Celeste stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whitewright 55-15 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Celeste has posted since November 21, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Celeste to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Compton, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Compton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylea West, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Wolfe City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. As for Celeste, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8.
Wolfe City barely slipped by Celeste in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 35-34. Does Wolfe City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Celeste turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
