Nebraska's most improved girls high school basketball teams

As the Nebraska girls basketball season prepares to hit the stretch run, we've crunched the numbers to determine which programs made substantial climbs in our MaxPreps Computer Rankings over a year ago.

Having improved its record by a remarkable nine games, according to Tuesday's rankings, Ogallala came up the winner, climbing 139 rungs to 54th. The nine-game improvement is also tops among the teams listed in this week's Top 10. Chris Mestl's Indians, who turned in a 9-16 record a year ago, are off to a fast start this winter, having won 15 of their first 19 games.

Improving its record by nine games as well, Silver Lake jumped a second best 128 spots to 131st. South Platte and Broken Bow rose 126 and 116 places respectively, while Sterling rounds out the Top 5 after climbing 106 spots to 55th so far this winter.

Every school in this week's Top 10 improved its ranking by at least 90 spots over a year ago, with Hastings Adams Central and Lourdes Central Catholic tying for the 10th spot. Of this week's Top 10, Oakland-Craig is the highest ranked club at No. 19.



Every classification in Nebraska is represented in the Top 10, except for Classes A, B and D1. Lincoln North Star earns the nod as Nebraska's most improved Class A school, having climbed 57 spots to 156th, while Class B leader Scottsbluff improved 85 rungs to 59th. Class D1's Lawrence-Nelson improved 86 spots over a year ago, and climbed to 62nd.
