Baseball Game Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Loveland Red Wolves

For the second straight game, Greeley West will face off against Loveland. The Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Red Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greeley West has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greeley West is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Loveland, falling 15-3.

For Loveland's part, Brady Cheever looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Cheever also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Red Wolves are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Alex Martin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Ashton Norvell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Loveland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Loveland's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Greeley West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
