Softball Recap: Emerald Ridge Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Emerald Ridge won the last time they faced South Kitsap and things went their way on Friday too. The Jaguars came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 6-3.

Alanna Wirtala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emerald Ridge let Jayda Guadron and Abygale Redwine run wild. Guadron went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and one run, while Redwine went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Guadron has posted since back in April. Ava Puttler was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Emerald Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Kitsap, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Emerald Ridge has already played their next contest, a 13-4 loss against Graham-Kapowsin on the 16th. South Kitsap does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
