Softball Recap: Hancock Gets the Win

While Hancock's victory against Turkeyfoot Valley Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Rams 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

Brooklyn McCusker was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaydence Gaither, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Sydney True was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Hancock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Hancock now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Coming up, Hancock will square off against Southern on Friday. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they will take on Ferndale at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
