Preview: McLean County Cougars vs. Muhlenberg County
The McLean County Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully McLean County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
McLean County posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over Ohio County. The win made it back-to-back wins for McLean County.
McLean County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Larkin led the charge by scoring five points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie McCoy, who scored five points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Muhlenberg County pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Hopkins County Central 66-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (59), Muhlenberg County still had to take the loss.
McLean County's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Muhlenberg County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
McLean County skirted past Muhlenberg County 47-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does McLean County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Muhlenberg County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
