Recap: Quitman Panthers vs. Northeast Jones Tigers
There's no place like home for the Quitman Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 50-44 victory over Northeast Jones on Tuesday. Given Quitman's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Northeast Jones is ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quitman to victory, but perhaps none more so than AUDRIANA HARRIS, who scored 17 points. Jahyla Dubuse was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Northeast Jones' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diamond Robinson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Falasia Cooley, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Quitman is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Northeast Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Quitman will take on Mendenhall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mendenhall is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Northeast Jones, they will be playing at home against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
