Basketball Recap: Clint Lions vs. Fabens Wildcats
Clint was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fabens Wildcats. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 54-40.
Despite the loss, Clint still got an impressive performance from Matthew Portillo, who went 9 for 17 to rack up 24 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. What's more, Portillo also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Raul Arroyo, who posted eight points.
Clint's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Fabens, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 10-18.
Coming up, Clint will welcome San Elizario at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fabens, they will challenge Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
