Basketball Recap: Guilford Makes It 19 in a Row at Home

Guilford extended their home winning streak to 19 games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Jaleese Williams. The Guilford Vikings came out on top against the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes by a score of 41-33 on Saturday thanks in part to Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Zariah Burnett, who posted four points along with seven rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last five games she's played.

Defeat or not, Marian Central Catholic got some senior leadership from Juliette Huff and Abbey Miner. Huff scored 14 points and five boards, while Miner put up seven points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Guilford has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Marian Central Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14.

Guilford will take on Harlem at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Marian Central Catholic, they will square off against Harvest Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harvest Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Marian Central Catholic likes a good challenge.
