Baseball Preview: Mountain Ridge Miners vs. Berkeley Springs Indians
The Mountain Ridge Miners will head out to take on the Berkeley Springs Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Mountain Ridge is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 13-3 to Southern.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 7-3 to Hancock. One positive for the Indians, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Kyle Moore was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jaxon McClintock and Kyle Rankin did some serious damage despite the final result: McClintock went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Rankin scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two doubles gave McClintock a new career-high.
Berkeley Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
