Basketball Game Preview: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Wahoo Warriors

Nebraska City is 0-6 against Wahoo since December of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. The Nebraska City Pioneers will square off against the Wahoo Warriors at 1:00 p.m. Nebraska City is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Nebraska City saw some tournament action on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Plattsmouth out 34-32. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by exactly two points.

Meanwhile, Wahoo was able to grind out a solid win over Malcolm on Thursday, taking the game 39-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Wahoo's win came from a few key players Nebraska City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gretchen Seagren, who posted nine points and three blocks. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Golladay, who put up nine points and three steals.

Wahoo is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Nebraska City, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Nebraska City came up short against Wahoo in their previous meeting back in January, falling 24-18. Can Nebraska City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
