Baseball Recap: Muleshoe Takes a Loss

Muleshoe had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 11-16 to make it five. They fell just short of the Slaton Tigers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Mules couldn't push the score so high this time.

Muleshoe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Villanueva, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Slaton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-15-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

On Slaton's side, Riley Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

As of now, neither Muleshoe nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
