Basketball Recap: Germantown Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Allis Hale on Tuesday, Germantown came back down to earth. The Warhawks were beaten by the Brookfield East Spartans 78-44 on Friday. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Germantown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Teigan Stuve, who posted 14 points and five boards, and Macey Burling, who had eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Stuve is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Avery O'Brien was another key player, putting up eight points.

Germantown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Brookfield East, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Germantown will venture away from home to take on Sheboygan Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brookfield East, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Kettle Moraine Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
