Plainfield South had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Joliet West Tigers. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Plainfield South pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Joliet West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Coming up, Plainfield South will head out on the road to face off against Providence Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Joliet West, they will host Romeoville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
