Football Preview: West Harrison Hurricanes vs. St. Martin Yellow Jackets

For the first time this season, West Harrison will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to take on the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Harrison is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Laurel 53-20. The win was just business as usual for the Hurricanes, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Jordan Stapleton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 196 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 60 receiving yards and one touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 13th straight game with at least 129 rushing yards dating back to last season. Sean Fairley was in the mix as well, providing West Harrison with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Harrison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 296 rushing yards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

St. Martin found their leader in sophomore Seth Crockett, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 176 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88% of his passes. Kevin Marshall was Crockett's top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

West Harrison's record now sits at 4-0. As for St. Martin, their record is now an identical 4-0.

West Harrison took a serious blow against St. Martin in their previous meeting back in October of 2020, falling 63-14. Thankfully for the Hurricanes, Makia Hebert (who rushed for 233 yards and four TDs on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
