The Page Patriots will square off against the Mount Juliet Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Page 4, Mount Juliet 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mount Juliet will be up against a hot Page squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Patriots came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Coffee County Central.
Ashley Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Page got a big performance out of MacKenzie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Adriana Callahan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Overton typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Mount Juliet proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Bobcats. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mount Juliet also got a great performance from Jewel Hale as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Anabella Brewer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Annalise Mecklenberg, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mount Juliet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Page pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Juliet, their victory bumped their record up to 30-11-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Page hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mount Juliet struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
