Softball Preview: Sheehan Titans vs. Guilford Grizzlies
The Sheehan Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Guilford Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Sheehan put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Hillhouse as they made off with an 18-2 victory. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Academics recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Guilford got the win against Branford on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.
Sarah O'Brien was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits. O'Brien was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Guilford got a massive performance out of Kennadie Tansey, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Tansey has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ella Munson, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Guilford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Sheehan's record is now 2-4. As for Guilford, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Sheehan skirted past Guilford 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
