Baseball Recap: Columbian Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Columbian barely beat Elmwood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tornadoes never let the Royals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornadoes.

Kyle Hepp was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Hepp was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Hepp wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braden Egbert, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Jayce Arias was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Columbian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Columbian picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-11. As for Elmwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Columbian will square off against Perkins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Elmwood, they will head out to face off against Lakota at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
