Volleyball Recap: Hobbs Takes a Loss

If Hobbs was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lovington on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles came up short against the Artesia Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hobbs was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Artesia work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 27-25, 25-19.

Zaylee Hardison paced Hobbs' offense, picking up eight kills. Hardison got some help from Yaritza Romero-Martinez and her 14 assists. Kamri Bennett controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Hobbs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Artesia, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Hobbs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Roswell on the 14th. As for Artesia, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Portales at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. This will be the Bulldogs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
