Football Game Preview: Berean Academy Eagles vs. Sequoia Charter Stallions

After each having a week off, the Berean Academy Eagles and the Sequoia Charter Stallions will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berean Academy has six straight victories, Sequoia Charter has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Berean Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup last Friday with ease, bagging a 54-0 win over Ajo. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 28 points or more this season.

Berean Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JAKE JENSEN, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. Those 101 rushing yards gave JENSEN a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was JOHNNY TORRES, who gained 62 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Berean Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 236 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Berean Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was MASON MESKE with three.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Sequoia Charter's offense. They were beaten by Wickenburg Christian Academy 44-0 last Friday.

Sequoia Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Berean Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
