Baseball Recap: Mahnomen/Waubun Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Mahnomen/Waubun dropped their record down to 4-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 10-5 to the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Thunderbirds, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

Owen Drinkwine made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Zima, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Swanson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Swanson has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Skyler Westphal, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
