Baseball Recap: Chartiers-Houston Takes a Loss

Chartiers-Houston extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-7 in the process. They came up short against the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Buccaneers were not able to get on the board.

Chartiers-Houston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Moushlian, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Jefferson-Morgan, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Jefferson-Morgan's side, John Woodward made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Woodward has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Deakyn DeHoet was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chartiers-Houston will square off against Bishop Canevin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will welcome Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
